13" X 5.5" Blue Sparkle Snare built out of LUDWIG Concert Tom Shell

This snare drum started life as a late 70's early 80's 13” Round by 12” Deep Ludwig Concert tom in white cortex. It’s 6-ply Maple Poplar Mahogany. Inner Ply Maple outer Ply Mahogany. The snare is built out of the bottom undrilled portion of the concert tom. It has been re-wrapped in a beautiful blue sparkle.
Here is what I did and had done.
The baring edges, snare beds, and the cutting of the shell down to 5.5” was done by a local professional custom drum builder with more than 25 years experience.
The snare was wrapped, mapped out for hardware, drilled, and assembled by myself. I even converted one of the matching 13” X 8-lug power tom hoops into a snare hoop by cutting out snare gates. I tried to make the gates look as close to the snare gates on a supraphonic hoop.
The shell was drilled for 8 Ludwig Bow Tie Lugs, P-85 Throw Off, P-32 Butt Plate, Ludwig Tone Control, and air vent. The badge is an original Round Corner Ludwig Blue & Olive Badge, Just not Original to this shell. The Grommet is a reproduction. The only part that is not Ludwig are the snare wires. They are Dixon snappy snares.
All of the hardware has been cleaned and polished. Some have typical cosmetic ware such as scratches and scuffs but are all in perfect working condition.
Shell is excellent shape. No cracks, splits, or ply separation, and still sports it’s original clear maple interior. As for roundness it’s very slightly out of round.
Blue Sparkle wrap has been compressed tight against shell with the wrap seem under one of the 8 bow tie lugs.
Heads fit quite well. Bottom head dropped right on. Top head was a little tight when first installed.
I basically wanted this drum to look like an old jazz festival snare. But in a 13” X 5.5” Size.
